Description

A beautifully decorated floral bundt cake perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • Fondant or edible flowers for decoration
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a bundt pan thoroughly with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and spread evenly. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool Cake: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare Icing: In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. For colored icing, add a few drops of food coloring and mix well.
  9. Decorate: Drizzle the icing over the cooled cake. Decorate with fondant or edible flowers as desired.

Notes

  • For an extra moist cake, consider brushing the cake with a simple syrup right after baking.
  • Use a silicone bundt pan to ensure the cake releases easily.
  • If using fondant flowers, make them a day ahead to allow them to dry and set.
  • Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
