Chocolate Caramel Oat Bars

Description

Delicious bars made with a rich caramel layer, oats, and chocolate chips.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 2 Cups Old-Fashioned Oats
  • ¼ teaspoon Cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 2 Cups Brown Sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 ⅓ Cups Butter (melted, or margarine)
  • 1 Bag Caramel Squares (11 ounce bags)
  • ½ Cup Evaporated Milk
  • ¼ Cup Heavy Cream (if you don’t have heavy cream, you can substitute with more evaporated milk)
  • 1 Cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  • 1 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine first 7 ingredients to make mix.
  2. Melt caramels, evaporated milk and cream in a saucepan over low heat, stirring often until smooth.
  3. Sprinkle half of the oat mixture into 8×11 or 9×13 inch pan lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.
  5. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked mixture and top with melted caramel mixture.
  6. Sprinkle remaining oat mixture on top.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Notes

  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting for cleaner slices.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
